Hello Everybody,

I'm not hard core gamer, but like gaming sometimes ( mainly MW3, Fifa 12). I don't have the xbox anymore since 5 months and i miss playing games sometimes.

ok here is the choice:

I don't mind gaming on my Macbook pro (See signature), but i'm not sure it will run Fifa 12, i know it will run MW3. And i like racing game, planning on installing Race driver : Grid.

Or should i buy a console but i don't like paying for Live because i don't play online often. If i buy the console, i would also have to buy headset as i have only a 1080p monitor(hdcp).

I already have windows 7 64bit. is there anybody here that still game on late 2008 macbook pro. I know that the mbp become hot just by starting windows.

If you don't want to play for online play, just get a PS3 or something of that nature? Laptops have an extremely short shelf life for gaming. In fact, they usually go out the door about two or three years behind the times anyway. Your MBP is now old enough that you will struggle to play some of the newer games, FIFA included. Consoles are super cheap now. You can pick up a PS3 for about £150. If it's the occasional game you want to play, go that route. Good luck.

I would agree. The Playstation 3 would be an excellent way to go and there's no fees for online play unlike with bad, bad Microsoft! ;-)

Alright i went for the xbox360 as i'm used to it and have friends that i can play with online. So now i don't have to think about if some games can run on my mbp, it is so much easier. Let's hope we not gonna get a new generation xbox soon.

ps: i didn't know gaming headset make a difference to how a game sound. Modern warfare sound amazing.

I've never understood how MS thinks they can compete with free online PS3? Are they competing? In other words are their selection of games so superior that their gamers are willing to pay? Obviously I don't know. I have an Xbox for a long time now, but I've resisted the subscription. When I game on it, it's either solo or local splitscreen coop.

as i'm a casual gamer, i would have been happy with the psn but none of my friends have a ps3. the problem also is when you don't have xbox live you can't access some apps like youtube etc...at this time the selection of game is irrelevant unless you are interested in some exclusive.

And as you probably know, there are some exclusive ones out there, like the Halo and Gears of War series (xbox only).
