I have a mid 2010 iMac which is "officially" an 11,2. However, its CPU has been upgraded(?) from the original i3 to an i7. In order for OCLP to work on Big Sur and Monterey I have had to call this machine a 12,1. Until recent versions of OCLP I have been able to override the "Unsupported Configuration" warning and create a build for a 12,1 machine and thus keep upgrading. The latest versions of OCLP will not let me do this. I have tried several times, most recently today, to build OCLP with the 11,2 settings (on an external drive) but without success. I need to move on to Ventura, Sonoma, or Sequoia for several reasons but I can't access "Settings" to change the build to 12,1. Is there a way to convince OCLP that my machine is a 12,1 so that I can upgrade to a newer OS?

I would recommend that you read the info provided on everymac dot com regarding CPU upgrades for the mid 2010 and mid 2011 iMacs. I'm only guessing here, but my assumption is that when the i7 upgrade was done, someone used a CPU intended for a mid 2011 iMac. That is why OLCP is getting "confused" when creating the build and makes you choose the 12,1 model.

So when you launch OpenCore Legacy Patcher GUI 2.0.2 application, the "Settings" button in the bottom middle of the window is grayed out? Or when you press the "Settings" button, the "Settings" dialog panel does not appear?

The i7 CPU currently installed is a 2.53 GHz quad core. I did check everymac dot com. None of the mid 2011 (12,1) models have that exact i7 CPU. Nonetheless creating a 12,1 build made it possible for me to upgrade this machine with OCLP from High Sierra to Catalina, Big Sur, and Monterey. My question remains: Is there a way to get OCLP to recognize my computer as a 12,1 so that I can upgrade to Ventura, Sonoma, or Sequoia?

The newest version of OCLP 2.0.1 does not allow me to access the "Settings" button at all because OCLP continually tells me "Unsupported Configuration Detected" (12,1) and I cannot get past that without building and installing a 11,2 build (which would render my computer unusable). Following up on sheapuppy's suggestion: Can anyone tell me if there a OCLP version between 0.5.0 (what I am currently running) and 2.0.1 that will allow me to create a 12,1 build AND upgrade to Ventura or Sonoma? Thanks

Hardware-wise, it's not possible to pull the trick you mentioned above.
iMacs 2010 use (LGA 1156): core i7-860, core i7-870; i7-880
iMacs 2011 use (LGA 1155): core i7-2600, core i7-2700.
I can't imagine how you can fit a CPU to an unsupported socket.

More info about Intel CPU sockets is provided in the below link:

Well, it must be possible since my 11,2 (mid 2010) iMac does have an i7 CPU. Still hoping for some useful help.

2.53Gh means a core i7-860s. It's compatible with iMac 2010 21.5".

And the info is matching with your iMac 11,2.
