Using a mid 2012 Mac Pro. Have a metal capable GPU (AMD Radeon RX 580 8 GB). Machine has 64GB ram and 2x3.46 6 core processors. Loaded Big Sur initially then loaded Monterey with no problems. Loaded 14.5 using OCLP 1.5 with no problems on a separated SSD just to be on the safe side. Went smoothly. Then tried 14.6.1 - and lost all admin privileges in the process. FYI - still have Monterey on its own SSD, just in case something like this were to happen. So wiped the 14.6.1 drive and went to reload 14.5 using OCLP 1.5. This is where things get weird. OCLP will not complete the reload and this is using the same USB stick with 14.5 on it I used initially. When choosing the 14.5 install disc at start up, get a message about the ‘computer restarted because of a problem’ - which was not the case. In any event chose to load icon and all proceeds as expected until the 2nd or 3rd reboot when all stops with a message that ‘an error occurred preparing software update”. Now this has happened 3 times. So here I am. One other thing. With only two drives in the Mac, my start up drive, and the drive that I was trying to load 14.5 back on to (though it has been erased and repartitioned) - I still get at the start up screen a load icon for 14.5. Now I have tried setting up Ventura with another USB stick (all 32GB) and get the exact same results. Any ideas.
