We are like 99% sure there will be an event on October to announce new MBP and iMacs.

However, it's September 29th and there is no info about the event (no invitations, rumors, anything). So, it's highly unlikely that the event will be held the first week of October as it is too soon for the press to be notified.

Another possibility is that there won't be any event and we'll only have a silent update... but that's super unlikely, as the new MBP apparently will be a something worth of showing.

I think the event will be held on the second week of October (October 11th) or on the third on October 18th.

What do you guys think?

It's just a thread to have fun and share our Sherlock Holmes skills on the matter. I am a little bored waiting for the new iMac so I want something to talk about.

Well, if they're working on early deliveries of Kaby Lake chips from Intel, my guess is that the announcement will be late October (w/c 24th) with limited availability from end of November until January (at least). Expect much gnashing of teeth and be prepared to get your order in as soon as you can.

The Kabylake chips suitable for MacBook pros aren't scheduled for for release for 5-6 months this just won't happen.....

iMac Pro to be unveiled.

I don't see that happening. I remember the same rumors for an iPhone 7 Pro.

I mean, it would be amazing but I think it's more likely for us to get a new Mac Pro and a new 5K external display (I heard LG was working on it).

Anyway, I'm not getting a Mac Pro or iMac Pro as they are (and would be) super expensive. I have just barely enough money for an 27 iMac. :(

I don't think there will be an event, but just a silent update to a number of Macs (MBPs, iMacs). I don't think the Mac Pro or Mini will see any updates, but rather the iMac and MBP will get onto skylake.

I find it hard to believe they would bother with an event. It would be calling a lot of attention to an update that should have happened awhile ago, especially in the case of the Mac Pro. It'll just be a quiet update late oct/early nov, if any update this year at all.

I really have my doubts on seeing a MacPro update, I think for some reason Apple is just letting that model (and the Mini) just whither on the vine for some reason.

no idea,, I'm not psychic (.. but I am working on it ) :)

If there is gonna be an October event, then we'll find out at least next week or two.

I'll go with the silent update..... based on the fact there would have been rumors galore by now what is expected and some info happening. 11th October is next week, so that's pretty close. For that to work, i'd say u probably have to do it at least Tuesday or Wednesday before hand (invites or what ever) can't see that happening either, unless Apple's keeping it all secret.. 18th October could be more likely.

Apple's often surprised us all with updates to Mac's that may have not been readily updated always, so it's possible, but don't get hopes up.

The two with the "funkiest" form factor... That last Mini update... ugh.

There are a few "technical" reasons I could see Apple "waiting" on. I just don't see why they wouldn't do what they always have done and release small updates/spec bumps while waiting on those.

My money is on they designed themselves into a corner. The cost of engineering the hardware to fit in these designs like the "Pro" and "Mini" is just too much for the margins Apple is used to so they'd just rather not try until the conditions are completely in their favor.
