My iPhone started acting oddly when I try to make a call.
When I open the app and try to check recents or voicemail or go to favorites, it starts to call someone and I can’t disconnect unless I close the app.
Navigating the app is also choppy and no longer smooth. I can still make calls if I keep trying and it doesn’t glitch.
It only started yesterday and so far it only has dialled some of the people in my favorites list.
It’s an iPhone 6 Plus.
Could this be a software or a hardware problem?
Can I delete the app and reinstall it? It is the built in iPhone phone app.
Can anyone advise how to fix it?
Thanks.

Update. Now the phone seems to be doing all sorts of things on its own searching for some sites and making map routes and and showing screen time settings and the calendar for an easier month and sometimes the screen scrolls a bit on its own. What could be causing all of these actions while I am not even touching the phone. It seems to go into some loop of searching and making connections to other settings apps on its own.

New update.
what seems to be happening is that the touch screen is becoming erratic and reacts to ghost gestures on its own or misreads my finger position when it isn’t even on the screen yet. And sometimes when I touch the home button, the screens starts to jitter.
it works ok for a while but then starts acting up.
I suspect that it’s a hardware issue now, but will try resetting back to factory state but I don’t think it will help.
