so, lets say i want to buy an iphone, but keep my phone number, i know i can port the number over and cancel my verizon plan. the problem is that my verizon number is part of my moms family plan, and she wants to keep my phone as part of her plan. can i port my number over and get a new number as part of her plan, w/o having to cancel my moms family plan?

it's my understanding that porting the number from a family plan will cancel that line. you need to make sure that line is out of contract (every line in a family plan has its own contract dates). once you port, and that line is canceled, your mom can just open a new line.

oh ok i got it, and ur saying that if its still under contract i will have to pay a cancellation fee?
