I’ve been scratching my head over this for a few months now and thought I’d throw it out to the community to see if anyone has an idea why this is happening. On Safari, on my iPad mini, whenever I open a tab for The Verge, it always shows the favicon for MacRumors. Only on my iPad, not my MacBook or my iPhone. It’s gotta be something with iCloud is my best guess. I’ve signed out and no change so at this point I’m just curious why it’s happening. Also cleared the cache.

Didn't you hear? The Verge is in the process of a merger! :p

If it’s still there when you signed out of iCloud... maybe some random cache issues with the browser?

To be fair, it would be to The Verges benefit. Their forums are pretty non existent.
Most forums are non-existent thanks to the rise of social media and messaging applications like Discord. Excluding Mac Power Users, Tom's Hardware and MacRumors are the only ones off of the top of my head that have active forums. Maybe Ars Technica, but even then, they still come nowhere close in terms of activity.

Would that explain it being replicated on an iPad Air that was set up from an iCloud back up of the iPad mini?

Could be included in a backup that was then restored I guess. If you erase the device and set it up fresh without the backup restored is it gone?

Hmmm. I’ll mull that over. Maybe in a week or two once my work has leveled out. Or better yet a new mini gets released. ?
