I've just updated my AppleTV to Take 2. The sound effects come through my speakers just fine, as does the intro video's sound. However, when I try to play content (previews, iTunes music, my TV shows, movies, etc.), there is no sounds through my receiver.

I can turn the volume up on my TV and hear the sound.

I run HDMI from the AppleTV to my TV. And then audio out from the TV to my receiver. Before Take2, I could listen to content from the AppleTV either through the TV or the speakers via the receiver. Now, no worky.

I've futzed with the settings. Any ideas come to mind?

If I connect the AppleTV's audio out directly into my receiver, it works fine.

So, I guess it's not a huge issue. I'm just wondering what might have changed that disrupted the way it worked pre-Take2.

I'm to guess it might be something to do with your TV not knowing how to convert the 5.1 signal to pass through to the receiver???

I guess that could be it, but it's a pretty modern Plasma HDTV with HDMI and digital in/out. Though, I guess it could point to how Apple is implementing their 5.1 signal. But I'm not geek enough to know how.

The strange thing is that the sound effects (blips, bumps, and bonks) worked, as well as the opening video sounds.
