I am wondering what is everyone else's opinions if mac was to allow an OEM Motherboard being sold that would allow for PC builders to build their own PCs that will run Mac OS. I think the licenses for this Motherboard of Course be OEM and the owners know that it means that they have to supply their own end user support. This I fill if they make it illegal for anyone to sell these units as mac computers this Could help MAC. Right now a lot people would like to have a wider range of hardware choice when it comes up to buying a MAC.

It's not the hardware, it's the experience that Apple is REALLY selling.
Without the experience people get from the combination of hardware and software, Apple is just like any other computer company.
Because of this, they'll never give another company the opportunity to offer OS X.
Not to mention that Apple doesn't need to take over the world in marketshare in order to succeed. They're the 2nd most valuable company in the US (if not the world) and that's with a sliver of the PC market. It works for them.

Actually Apple is a hardware company that uses software to drive hardware.
They tried "cloning" back in the day and it nearly killed them. Just look at the culture of apple, closed, protective. Has a complete say on almost every detail. Making the hardware for someone else to assemble is the complete opposite of that. Plus other manufacturers will undercut apple and apple's hardware will take a nose dive.
Apple's approach for them is working, and why fix what's not broke.
That doesn't change the fact, that Apple makes part of its money with Macintosh hardware, regardless of how they get it to the user.
If Apple would sell some Apple approved logic board to make Mac OS X run on self built computers, they would make less I guess.
The iKit. Standardized Apple supplied parts but with the option of different sized cases. So those of us that want a desktop Mac between the mini and the Pro could actually build one.

Its not that apple makes "part" of their money on hardware. Hardware sales is a significant portion of their income. That is, they make a small amount of money on software, but that software drives the hardware. By allowing others to make Macs, apple loses a huge advantage.
I agree, I just meant, that the Mac hardware is only part of their income, as the iDevices bring in a lot more money than the Macs. But still the Macs make a significant amount of money. Money. Makes the world go sound.

Okay, it seems there is a big misunderstanding here.
The OP wants Apple to produce a logic board for people to build their own Mac and run Mac OS X.
I responded, that Apple makes most of its money (excluding iDevices) with the hardware (iMac, MacBook, ...) and not the software (Mac OS X) - 1000 per machine (and more) is more revenue/profit than the 29 or 129 per Mac OS X version.
I should have mentioned, that I was excluding the iDevices, which also make a lot of money with software (App Store).

Buy a Windows PC, thy come with AV software now and most of them don't even use a BIOS anymore, but something advanced called "Adam".
