Hi guys,
Against the odds, I somehow managed to put a dell OEM xp slipstreamed sp2 os onto my macbook...and freakishly enough I like it. (although I'll still be using Mac a lot, duh). Anyway...my issue is this. The OEM cd came with my very ailing Dell Inspiron 500m with which the HD is about the die anyway. Problem is, of course, it's still there. And in reality...I can't really...."uninstall" it. Is there anyway I can just keep the computer "dormant" (not on at all) and yet still be able to activate windows on my macbook? Are the guys at Microsoft really nitpicky about this or are they just happy that you're using windows on your mac?

thanks

Microsoft is very forgiving if you're on the legit side of things. If it won't activate (but chances are, it will) you can just call them up and they'll get you straightened out.

Umm err... is this your personal experience with transferring an *OEM* license to another machine? Or are you guessing?

OEM authorization is not retail Windows authorization.

The license that came with the Dell specifically says it is tied to that machine and is non-transferrable. The license dies with the Dell.
