As of this morning, I seem to only be able to choose between noise cancellation, adaptive, and transparency. The ability to just not use any mode is gone. Has this happened to anyone else?

It's particularly annoying because when I have just one AirPod in, it forces it on transparency mode, as you can't switch to any other mode than transparency or off when you only have one in, and off is gone now. This means in any sort of crowded noisy place, if you just want one AirPod in, it's useless because it's actively amplifying the cacophony around you.

I wonder if this is a bug, because I also found this morning when I opened the AirPods case, it said "not your AirPods Pro" and I had to re-pair them from scratch.

Or perhaps Apple are pushing the adaptive mode - ie you shouldn't be using them with just one in anymore, because look how good our adaptive mode is.

Thoughts anyone? I'm on the AirPods Pro 2 (lightning).

it is, but you have to re-enable it

search the forums or the web, I forget where the setting is.

Ah you're right, thank you. In settings > AirPods.

I am actually going to give adaptive mode a try now that I was forced to use it for the first time today.

I guess this thread might help someone else who's confused.
