I'm going to be buying my self an iMac in the next few days from the UK online store. I'm not going to be waiting for an Intel machine or anything; I'm getting my iMac now :). I will get an Intel iBook, but that will be in a year or two. I don't need one now. The iMac is better for me as it's more powerful and has greater storage and screen size and I don't need to carry it about. It would cost just as much for an iBook and externals to make up the loss.

There are a few offers that I want to make use of when buying this. The first is a pay for it over six months, the second get £60 off a printer, and a third of £23 off an order over £237.

Does anyone know if I can use all these at once? The T&C of them say I can, but I was wondering if any one has had any problems with them. And where do you pick to pay over six months? I've not clicked though the store as I have to use my Mum's credit card as I've not got one so I don’t know if it's there. What has to be done to sign up for it?

My order is going to be:
17" iMac with 250gig HDD - £950
HP PSC 1610 (Printer/Scanner) - £100 (£60 mail in rebate)
iPod Dock - £25 (the £23 off will be used here, so it's only really £2 :D)

Another thing, shipping time on the printer is listed as 2-3 weeks, but the iMac in 8 days. I think the Dock is 3 days. Does this mean I have to wait for the Printer to be shipped, or will things be shipped in parts? The only other thing I've ordered from apple is my iPod and that was on it's own so I'm not sure.

Thanks for any help!

If you're at school now you're still good for Edu. discounts and if you're not here's a tip: Apple don't check, they just take your word for it.

Normally I wouldn't advocate lying to get a discount but Apple just stopped me buying from their online store so screw 'em.

If you're not going until next year, but have the acceptance letter, that'll work.

Cool . that must have been a great week or two! Thanks for the info.

I can't use the Student Discount as I have to be in Uni to use it and I'm still in High School. I might be different in the USA. I'm not going to lie about it to get my computer, and my parents wouldn't let me use their card if I did.

ship date

the shipping date is when the goods leave china or wherever they are made. the actual delivery date always seems a mystery but they do give an estimate. you should be able to track on the T.N.T. website with your shipping number.

thats my experience anyhow.

and I for one think you are entitled to the edu discount - morally at least. just hold on for the 10th Jan. never know what the black jumpered one has up his sleeve.

That isn't actually always true. Before they confirmed my order, they insisted on my sending them a scan of my student card from my university email address. I was surprised as I'd heard that they never checked, but it seems that every once in a while they do. :(

Yeah, just show them somewhere that you've been accepted or enrolled and it works. I was just at the Apple Store Monday and showed them online where I was accepted at UGA. They'll work with you -- don't worry!

You might want to consider a refurb - the UK refurb store has more models than I remember seeing for a long time at the moment, with some really good prices (eg 12" PB for £787) - significantly cheaper than the edu price.
