Office 2004 problems

I just got office 2004 and I am have two really annoying problems. I was wondering if someone else had similar problems or had a solution. I might have to have to contact M$ tech support.

1 - The delete key (the backspace key) will not delete a highlighted section of text in a word document. Only the delete key (one of the six keys above the arrow keys) will work.

2 - When a paste a picture in the document, it will not come onto paper unless the layout of the picture is in "inline with text" mode. I always used the "Square" mode because you can move the picture around anywhere in Office V.x .

I'll try testing for this tonight. I don't use Word at home too much, so I can't say I've seen this.
