So, I have the student version of Office 365 installed on my M1 MBP. Autoupdate, won't update even when I try to manually update.

So, the update will download but says 'download error' when it tries to install.

If I download them fresh from Microsoft, I am able to install the latest version. Only Autoupdate updates properly, nothing else. No idea why and MS support is useless.

You might have better luck deleting the apps you have installed, and installing them from the Mac App Store instead. The apps are the same, and you can activate them with your existing Office 365 credentials, but the update process goes through the Mac App Store system rather than Microsoft Autoupdate.

1. Go through this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...-for-mac-eefa1199-5b58-43af-8a3d-b73dc1a8cae3

2. Restart the system.

3. Get the latest app package: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...c-or-mac-4414eaaf-0478-48be-9c42-23adc4716658

4. Install the apps and allow the auto updater to do its thing.

5. See if the problem persists.

Most likely, the auto updater is somehow corrupt. It might be best to raise a ticket with support, or try and raise a ticket/ search for specific issues in their forums/ community. Wishing you luck.
