Currently, the only way is to write your own viewer.

Not entirely true. I sent myself an Excel doc to my gmail account and looked at the attachment via Mail. it was slick navigating an excel spreadsheet via Touch.

currently you can view Excel and Word files through mail.

PowerPoint viewing will be available with the new 2.0 firmware in June to the general public
