Now that I have updated, Outlook will load and then after a few moments I get the beachball and it just hangs. I restart it and it works for a little bit and then back to the same... Anybody else running into this?

I suggest searching this forum. There were some threads in regards to El Cap and various office version. And i remember others saying outlook not working ( in the 2011 version)

I have seen several websites stating that office is not fully up-to date for el cap. And that they are working on it.

oh man.. i confirmed outlook 2011 is not working with El Capitan
My Microsoft Outlook for Mac 2011 is working fine. I have Version 14.5.5 installed. I retrieve my email accounts using IMAP. I believe there may be issues using an Exchange account...reading various posts concerning Outlook issues with this new OS update.

I can't even get anything from Office 2011 to open. I am immediately greeted with a pop-up saying "
Check with the developer to make sure Microsoft PowerPoint works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X.

Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple."

I have reinstalled it and nothing.
