Official "Intel iMac" name?

Is it true that the official name is "iMac Core Duo"? I think that would make a lot of sense because in the past, nacs have been named by model , then processor type. Plus it sounds cool. Just say it.....iMac Core Duo.

Well that's how people refer to it now but once they stop selling G5's they may just go back to iMac. The Macbook Pro doesn't have any indication of what it's processor is which leads me to think they'll simply be called iMacs.

I think the official name of the iMac is "iMac (Early 2006)".

The Apple Store refers to them as "iMac Core Duo", so I think that is indeed the official name.

Edit: Mis-read it. They refer to it as simply "iMac".

I think of each new version of the iMac as an individual entity. My G5 iMac, for instance, is the "rev B," and then along came the "rev C," but that particular iMac had a new distinguishing characteristic: the addition of the iSight camera, so in my mind, that became "the iSight iMac..." and now we've got our first version of the iMacs with intel inside, and so, yeah, I tend to think of those as the Core Duo iMacs because of course there are going to be future iMacs which will have other distinguishing characteristics and eventually other intel chips inside...

Well, actually, I tend to think of and call my iMac "sweetheart," but that's hardly the official designation!

Officially, it's iMac, but for differentiation it's suffixed with Core Duo, the way the original iMac is differentiated with G3.
