Hi there,

I just ordered my first iMac. I took everything to the max except for the memory. This is something I can upgrade myself for less money. Can anyone tell what type and brand of memory Apple uses? I know its pc2 6400, but I would like to know who is the official provider of the memory to Apple.

Thanks in advance,

M

My 24" iMac came with 2gb of "hynix" memory :)

What you need is:

DDR2 PC2-6400 • CL=6 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR2-800 • 1.8V • 256Meg x 64

The brand doesn't matter. I recommend buying from Other World Computing or looking up Crucial Part #: CT817152.

OWC is a great place to buy stuff for your mac. I bought 2 gb memory, a 500 gb HD, and a video card from them this year, and they were super fast.
