I have a couple questions from those who have used the official tethering option in IOS 4.3 on an iPhone 4.

How seamless is it? As in, can you just leave it enabled and running 24/7, and use it with little effort. It would be an issue if I had to remember to startup tethering on the iPhone before a quick use of my iPad.

How much does it affect the battery life of the phone? When actually tethering, and when just in idle mode? (See question above)

I only tether a couple times a year, if I'm vacationing someplace where the WiFi doesn't work. But even when I tethered, I was under 1GB total for the month. But when I do, now, I have to move my SIM to my jailbroken 3G with MiWi. But that uses battery life pretty fast, and the experience of that is not good enough to drop my iPad data plan.

If the answers are positive enough, I may wait until I ever need to tether again, and if they change my plans just go ahead and drop the iPad data plan. The $45/month for the tethering plan would be cheaper than the $60/combined I pay now.
