Hi guys,

Been having a look around and have come across offline google maps. Im a bit confused to the main point of using this. Is it able to find your location via a GPS signal and does it speed up the search as well. So confusd to the real benifit of using this. If someone could help me out please.

I just want to know why would one have offline google maps rather than the normal google maps? What's its main use.

Correct me if im wrong but you dont have to be online to use maps. So what you talking about.

you, not only are thoroughly wrong, you are also inept as as an inanimate object. Why would one even specify the "offline" maps, if they didnt require being online in the first place? You need data to load the maps...

Maps are not stored locally on your device. They are downloaded on the fly by google maps. So if you were to set your iPhone to airplane mode, turn off wifi, and try to load directions, you can't. Offline mode allows you to start the directions while you have signal, and continue when you don't. If you're driving through a dead spot this is helpful. Or if you have to travel into a tunnel, and need to know what the exit is coming out of the tunnel (try taking the holland into NYC and not knowing what exit you need on the other side-then you'll understand why having an offline map is useful.)
