Normally when on a road trip I use my Garmin nav and plot out my routes in BaseCamp for my motorcycle. I am heading West to visit a friend in October and will be going by car. I have a nice big centre screen and CarPlay. Rather then suction mount my GPS and have the dangling wires I would love to use my iPhone GPS and some offline maps. The ones I have come across seem to all be subscription based, does anyone know of an offline navigation app that also works with CarPlay? Does not have to be a free app, I just don't want a subscription.

You can download offline maps using Google Maps, which supports CarPlay.

Was hoping and looking for a complete map set without downloading small pockets at a time. Also I am assuming the Google option does not download POI's and is simply the road maps? If no other options come up I will probably end up going this route.

Maps.me could be an option, you have to download maps to be available offline but they are biggish areas you can download. I use it with a few areas around me and where we go in France downloaded as one of the layers they offer covers walking paths etc so i can use it when out walking with the dog etc and not have to worry about not having a signal if i'm in the middle of nowhere!

Pretty sure it works via CarPlay as well, i've never tried it but think it shows as an icon on my CarPlay screen.
