How it is supposed to update mountain lion mac's that do not have internet connection or they have slow connections?

With the new ML, apple stopped all standalone files of updates and the only way to update the OS is through app store.

So, if a mac does not have internet connection or it has slow net connection, it does not deserve any new updates of ML, according to apple's logic?

Yeah I think the app store is the only way to do them.

There are lots of cases of how apple now expects you to have a permeant stellar Internet connection.

Now that is a solution.

This reminds of of a problem I just had installing Windows at work. It would not connect to the Internet because the drivers for the Ethernet didn't work. When I clicked solutions it said to be sure you were connected to the Internet to download the current drivers.

It would be very convenient to be able to download a big update somewhere that I have fast net, but without carrying my mac there(for example, at work - office).

I have dsl on home and I am ok with my updates, but in my office I have even faster net line.
And I am always searching for alternative ways to do my mac tasks(updates etc)

Not trying to be rude, thats they way we have updated computers (including windows) for the last 10 years.

Now you could always download the updates off of apples website, as the above post pointed out, at work and bring home on a flash drive. Downloading updates overnight works too. Hopefully your internet is fast enough to download a few hundred megabytes in 8 hours.

I also want to mention:

- these app store updates, are not completely anonymous as previous software update was (in windows are still anonymous), as apple requires an apple id. It is free, but there thoughts about tracking, logging etc

- I cannot see the size of the updates inside app store. I know that apple wants to move from 'physical' thinks like filesizes or the path of files, but this is not an iphone, if I have to download an update of 10mb or an update of 1gb, I have to know it first! Not downloading without knowing how big an update is!

My point was, that this is nothing new. Needing the internet to update your computer has existed for a long time now. Its not just a "problem" with mountain lion. I realize that there are many people who don't have good internet, but I don't think they were any better off before mountain lion.

I will have to agree with you on that. There have been many times that I have hit update, only to realize. "Thats going to take too long, I have to leave".
