Looks like OG HomePod is not supported as every other HomePod has the option to install 17.o RC. Hopefully I am missing something, otherwise, it is a sad day indeed.

There’s a developer profile specifically for the OG. They don’t issue it through the public beta as there is no way to restore the OG HomePod like you can on the mini/gen 2. It’s easy to find the profile online, but beware of installing - if it bricks for any reason there’s no recourse besides taking it to Apple.

Thank you!

Thank you!
Anecdotally I’m running the 17 RC on my OG right now and it’s objectively doing better than any of the 16 builds.

But still, some of stories of folks not getting so lucky and the devices have to be taken in (which I guess would be the case even with a public update to the OG) so if you’re feeling a little risky, I’d say do it since it’s very unlikely the software will change between today and Monday.
