I did it. I bit the bullet.

I just got the 30" Cinema Display to go with my new Mac Pro.

:D

I have to get a new Office Chair, as mine sits too low, and makes me strain my neck looking up at the dang thing.

I know, I know, you are all Soooooo sorry for me.

God, it is just creamy goodness :) :) :) :D

Herman Miller Aeron or one of their other ergonomic chairs.

If you are going to splurge on the eyes, might as well make the ass and back happy.

That's awesome! I wish I had me one of those monitors. The biggest I've had was 21 inches and it was great. I'm sure you'll love yours, but for me, I'm too much of a portable guy to stay at a desk. Enjoy!

California.
Larger than my TV. Twice the size of my laptop screen.

Honestly I can't even fathom having one of those on my desk.

I'd want to step back away from it somehow. I think...

Wicked cool. Now all you need to do is get the other one. :D

30x2 is the woah...oh...my...god level up. ;)

Somehow I dont think I'd need my glasses for that screen

The only problem with that is that it has the same pixel resolution (dots per inch,) as their other displays, and since it's so large, you tend to want to sit farther away. That means it's actually HARDER to read things.

As for wanting one? Well, when it came out, I measured my desk. The monitor 'well' is EXACTLY large enough for it. (With 1" of space above, and less than 1/4" on the sides.) Now if only I could afford it. (Although it is more affordable now, it's still a little out of my price range for the moment for 'just a monitor'.) I'd rather get a Mac Pro and keep my current 20" CRT, than get the 30" display to go with my only current computer that can run it.

Definitely a use for the 3x 7300GT Mac Pro ... if you don't mind 9k for a monitor.

That 8 screen 19" display is half the price and only needs 1 more video card.

But if 2 of the ATI cards will work, even if you have to retask the PCI Express slots with the slot manager -- that tri 30 looks feasible.

Did I miss something?

The 20 Inch is 1680x1050 pixels, the 23 Inch is 1920 x 1200 pixels, and the 30 Inch is 2560x1600 pixels...

Or were you referring to something else?

The 30" sure is nice. I went into an Apple store and I saw a 30" and a 20" (what I own now) and the 20" looked so small next to the bigger display. But it's weird because when I get home, my 20" looks so huge sitting on my desk. I can only imagine just how humungous the 30" would be. Salivating at the thought...

Yeah, that is something that I can't put into words. Or pictures. I tried taking a picture. Doesn't do it justice... really weird, actually.

This thing is SOOOO HUMONGOUS sitting at home on the desk. Just looked "NICE and BIG" at the store.

At home, on the desk... it's like it's just... OMG... holy hell... lol

He was referring to the pixel density, the 30" has a pixel density of about 100 pixels per inch - the same as the other displays - meaning that everything is the same size on the 30" as on the 20" but the 30" just has more "room." The Menu bar for example is the same height on the three displays but it's a hell of a lot longer on the 30" display.
