Oh NO! My open button is stuck in!

So, here is my sad sap story. I put my MBP on my nightstand last night when going to bed, and what do I wake up to? BAM! My playful kitty kat decied it would be fun to knock my computer off my nightstand. How he did it, I am really not sure.

Anyway, it now won't close. The button on the front is stuck pushed in, and there is a very slight bend to the top case up by the iSight.

Is there anything I can do? What will Apple do if I take it to the store? Apple Care doesn't cover somthing like this, does it?

AppleCare won't cover this, but they will fix it for a fee at the Apple Store.

Ahhh, I had to learn to put my RAZR in just the right drawer with the cable running over the top of the dresser so that mine wouldn't pull it out of the wall and drag it around the apartment.

Mmm, have you tried sort of fiddling / massaging the button to see if it'll unlatch? On my iBook, every once in a while, this button becomes just slightly stuck and if I fiddle with it, it comes back out. Of course my iBook doesn't have a bent bezel.

Perhaps try pushing on the button with one hand while pressing the casing back into proper position with the other hand to relieve tension in the case.

yes, I tried everything, and upon closer inspection last night, I realized that there is a farily large dent above the button.

How long does the apple store usually take to fix somthing like this? I know its Christmas time, so it will probably be FOREVER!

I have a similar issue and I took it into the genious bar. they couldn't pop it out or anything so they gave me a quote on it which ended up being close to 900 bucks.

makes me want to cry, my poor MBP!

anywho I've been checking out This site and I'm looking into maybe replacing/reinstalling the bottom case myself or having one of my more nerdy friends doing it.

I dunno just a suggestion.

The case hardware is also sometimes available on eBay if you're up to it.

Oh my, that price is disgusting. Hopefully they can just oen it up and pop something back in to place, its worth a shot..
