I’m gonna make a guess and say the op never owned a Face ID device of his or her own.
Cause if they had, they woudnt even be thinking about Touch ID.
It’s gone/
I own an iPhone X. But I was hoping FaceID will shrink to enough it could be embedded in its bezel to experience a 100% usable screen.

Maybe Apple will keep FaceID and also implement a fingerprint reader underneath the glass. Let’s hope.
In-display fingerprint was hyped because people weren’t thinking about the alternatives; the question was, ‘how was we have an all-display phone with biometric security on the front?’ And the answer people came up with was ‘by hiding the fingerprint scanner under the display’. Apple went a different route and introduced facedID; problem solved and with no compelling reason to go back, I agree, touchid is now a legacy feature.i dont understand the constant call for in screen fingerprint scanner. It was all hyped by the media, but so far we havent seen any major android manufacturer implementing it.
personally what beats a faceID will be something like e.g. a chip inside of you or even better your unique scent, and it just unlocked when you are close.
People need to let go of Touch ID. It isn't coming back.
The SE cult is small, but vocal on the forum. Some can not even let go of the SE. love FaceID.
