Maybe Apple will keep FaceID and also implement a fingerprint reader underneath the glass. Let’s hope.

honestly i dont see apple re-introducing touchID, at least for the near future. 1) security is as strong as the weakest link, so if apple think faceID is more secure, then it's unlikely that we will see touchID. 2) people seem to adapt to faceID just fine. 3) i dont know why, but somehow the smaller notch looks uglier

I’m gonna make a guess and say the op never owned a Face ID device of his or her own.

Cause if they had, they woudnt even be thinking about Touch ID.

It’s gone/

I own an iPhone X. But I was hoping FaceID will shrink to enough it could be embedded in its bezel to experience a 100% usable screen.

At every event since the iPhone X Apple has stated Facial recognition is its future.

lol they are not going back. Don’t you like Face ID if you own an iPhone X?

Only set mine up the once and it’s been perfect every time. So quick and easy.

No more wiping my dirty sweaty fingers lol

No reason for Apple to spend the time, money, and resources on this. Face ID is already better than Touch ID and is only going to get better. By the time you look at the screen to figure out where to put your finger, your phone is already unlocked with Face ID.

i dont understand the constant call for in screen fingerprint scanner. It was all hyped by the media, but so far we havent seen any major android manufacturer implementing it.

personally what beats a faceID will be something like e.g. a chip inside of you or even better your unique scent, and it just unlocked when you are close.

We will probably eventually get there. It takes more time to shrink smaller items even more though.

Agree with others. TouchID toast on iOS. After using my X for over a week now, I can't see myself going back to TouchID on a phone.

Even Apple Pay is a lot more natural to use w/ FaceID than touchID ever was.

In-display fingerprint was hyped because people weren’t thinking about the alternatives; the question was, ‘how was we have an all-display phone with biometric security on the front?’ And the answer people came up with was ‘by hiding the fingerprint scanner under the display’. Apple went a different route and introduced facedID; problem solved and with no compelling reason to go back, I agree, touchid is now a legacy feature.
