Couldn't resist -- I had a completely ridiculous go-around with Apple Institutional EDU the *first* time I tried to order an MBA and finally just cancelled. Figured I would sit tight until the next rev. In the meantime I traded up my rev A MBP for one of the new Penryns (a great move).

And then my work schedule started to clog up with short trips again :( . And I came back to this forum to see what early adopters were saying...

And I fell off the fence again and authorized another MBA order, this time for the base 1.6/80 model instead of the 1.8/SSD.

While I currently have a ship date of 28 March, I know better and will not hold my breath -- so cross your fingers to see if this time I join the club!

Is yours an Institutional EDU order? I doubt it if it shipped early.

Been there, done that-- started with a Jan 22 order with a Feb 12th ship date that turned into March 13th ship date with "no guarantee" that was a firm date.

But thanks anyway for the math lesson.

LOL -- that is at least encouraging, ADC used to be pretty laggy.

I'll be happy if they just make the target -- looking forward to lightening my load!

I wish -- apparently this is not allowed with institutional purchase orders. I think it somehow is a NY state rule, though it could just be my institution being obstructionist.

Certainly would have been less painful, I have 3 Apple stores within a half hour of me! :(

a different breed of transaction. I know at my (2) campuses, they don't have a problem with the purchase order, but each individual Apple Store must become a recognized "VENDOR" which requires that they conduct (1) transaction via a PO and then they are in the system, but many Apple Stores are reluctant to "WAIT" for their money. The education systems have a "ship date" crisis on their hands, b/c they must NOW wait in line for the next available MBA. I went the route of showing my school ID and picking up my MBA w/EDU discount in the local Apple Store (no purchase order). Good Luck, but don't hold your breath.

Why not pick one up from a retail store? They're available at all of the Manhattan locations (it'll actually be cheaper, too -- no shipping costs).

Nope-- local Apple stores won't take purchase orders, this machine is being paid for by my university (my MBP was on my dime).

But just for amusement's sake I checked the order this AM and found that the MBA is "Prepared for Shipment" -- I almost fell over in shock, so hotdamn -- looks like your quick ship was an indicator of something positive happening on the EDU side at Apple.

Of course, given my prior luck it will probably sit in "Prepared for Shipment" limbo for the next two weeks  -- but this is certainly farther along than I got on my first order 2 months ago... :D
