I have two Macs that I want to use, simultaneously. Well, sort of.

I want to have both running and switch between the two so I can work interactively on one and let the other one render files, etc.

With limited work space, I only have one 24" monitor that I have been manually switching between the two (unplugging the HDMI and plugging it back in).

So, I would like to be able to easily switch video (and ideally my wired keyboard and mouse too), between the two systems.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Does the monitor have more than one type of input? such as HDMI and Displayport? HDMI and ?? You would then use the monitors controls to select the input. Or this:
I've never used an HDMI switch, so don't know the reliablity of this.

I am thinking about trying to do the Remote Desktop thing. I haven't used it before, but that would work.

I really don't need a lot of interactivity with the Mac Pro...just want to monitor progress.

Yes, I've thought about doing a HDMI switch or KVM (keyboard video mouse) switch.

Was wondering if there was anyone who has tried the different options and had an opinion.

For what I am doing, the software Remote Desktop thing would probably be adequate.

I need to do some more research. Thanks!
