Just installed the new leaked firmware 4.1.2, which brings multi view plus some other enhancements, llike being able to customize the notification panel, stock swipe keyboard, more smooth performance and such.

But the real deal is multi view. It is surprisingly smooth for a beta firmware. I was browsing the Web while watching a YouTube video side by side. There was no lag.

This phone is looking better and better every day and month that goes by. I'm also eagerly awaiting lock screen widgets in 4.2.

Now I've got less reasons for wanting that nexus 4.

Anyone else has tried multi view on the SGS3? On the Note 2 it must be amazing with the bigger screen.

It's amazing how much the iphone and ios are missing out. I can't see them ever having multi view or something like that.

Almost forgot: there's also a new gallery, much more cooler with different views.

Currently running CM10 (4.1.2) on my international S3 and it's buttery smooth like they say (with minor issues like camera not connecting sometimes).

Care to share the download link? I wouldn't mind going back to a Samsung ROM.

Edit: Is your S3 an international one too?

I'll be waiting for the multi view zip file.(If it's not already out). I'm on 4.1.1 SG3.

I just hooked up Google Wallet a couple hours ago. :D

I'm also still loving the popup browser and the Note 2 Gallery.

Are you running a custom ROM or leaked official software? I don't really know much about leaks since I've stuck mainly to AOSP ROMs.

Yeah. I have the international version.

You can find the firmware on sammobile.com or on xda. Use Odin and done.

This is easily the best feature of any mobile os or smartphone in this year.

My only issue with sammobile is they don't have a non-carrier version. Or do they? I bought my phone unlocked so there's no carrier bloatware or even a boot logo.

Edit: there seems to be one called Open Europe. I'm not sure if that is what it means but I'm in Europe.

Edit x2: did you use this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1835931

Im running this........ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869300

Has worked flawless for me.

I'm on an international S3 but thanks.

I just flashed Omega and wow I am in love with this multiview feature! I saw it on my friends Note 2 but had no idea they planned on including it to 4.1.2 for the S3. I guess I might as well use a Samsung ROM on my S3 so I don't get bored when my Nexus 4 arrives :p (which might be a few weeks or more)

I just installed the official 4.1.1 yesterday. Doubt we will get another update of JB on the GS3....at least thats what i think. Could be wrong but is there a file to get Google Wallet working? Suppose id have to root to do it as well.

I'm not sure about that either. But I would believe so, since the GS3 is basically an unofficial flagship phone.

You would need to root to install Google Wallet, being that there is slight file editing needed under root. It's really woth it, Google Wallet has impressed me.

Sounds cool but Multi Window on a phone with a 4.8 inch screen doesn't sound appealing at all. Basically you are looking at 2 inches on each window, who wants to watch a movie or even browse the web on a 2 inch screen? LOL Would be great on a 10 inch tablet maybe, not on a phone though

I so hope Samsung abandones the physical home button. Some things you shouldn't copy from Apple.

I wonder what TouchWiz 5 will be like. I read a few things where they said they're going to focus on revamping software. They have the hardware side down pat.

And before you cue the whole "plastic" argument... it's intentional to offer SD expansion and removable battery. Get over it. :p

I disagree. I use popup browser on a regular basis for many brief reasons. Can navigate anywhere while it stays on top. Same goes with Video. Not too small at all for causal usage. I'm looking forward to trying out multi windows.

I'm using a Samsung ROM that has multiview and popup play but I'm not sure if it has a popup browser or not. How do I access it? Pressing on links just opens the browser.

Go to Application Manager, tap the menu button and reset app preferences. When you click a link you should see a choice of browsers and popup browser should be one of them. Set always or just once. If you don't see it, you probably don't have it.

I thought about doing that but it was never an option the first time I opened a link. I just tried but only Internet and Chrome show up as options. Too bad cause I really liked this feature on my friends Note 2. Maybe I'll find another ROM.

If iOS had some of the features the Note II or S3 had, I bet a lot of people would be singing quite a different tune. They might even say Apple is innovating with these features.

I think the most impressive thing is Smart Stay, even if it's not fully realized yet. It's a start. It really puts the "smart" in smartphone.

I've been using AOSP ROMs for the majority of the time since I got my S3 so I didn't have any of these features. A few people I know who do have Smart Stay say it doesn't work and that the screen turns off.

Yup I use smart stay myself without realizing it most of the time. I assume Samsung has patents on these features. I wish Samsung and Apple would trade features with each other. I would love to tap the status bar on the GS3 to scroll to the top of most apps like iOS.

Ok so I've always been a strong advocate of the Vanilla android experience and I've been using AOSP ROMs almost exclusively on my GS3 since the day I bought it but now that I actually gave this Samsung ROM a try, I'm in love! I don't get why people hate TouchWiz now and all the extra features Samsung have added are very handy.

I still refuse to use stock software because it was laggy when I tried it on my friends/families GS3's but I'm running Omega 33.1 on my international GS3 and it's very smooth. This is definitely helping with the fact that I'm gonna have to wait a few weeks or more for my Nexus 4 to arrive.

Ok and what's the point of that? The video is tiny, browser displays very little info and you can't even see much behind it. It's a lot of clutter.

Well that's your opinion it doesn't mean other people don't enjoy using it. Of course you wouldn't do all your browsing in the pop up browser but it come in handy if you just wanna quickly have a look at something without leaving the app you're in. This is an extra feature, you don't have to use it if you don't want to :p

I think it's interesting that anyone would talk about screens being cramped when their preferred device is a 4" screen. You want to know what's cramped? When the "back, forward, etc." buttons come up in Safari on the iPhone. Or when the keyboard pops up during texting. Now that's cramped. And if anyone is still on the 4S' 3.5" screen, fuhgetaboutit!

He isn't going to understand this. Not until Apple offers it. Don't waste your time. :p
