Ok opening Notes.app from 10.11 on iOS8?

I was gonna update to the public beta of El Capitan today, and one of the features I'm looking forward to is the new Notes.app.
However, my iPhone is still on iOS 8. Will it be ok opening rich notes created on El Capitan on my iOS 8, or will those notes be dumbed down after I edit them on iOS 8? Is it recommended to also update to iOS 9 beta?

According to plenty of feedback from various types of users, if you count compatibility more than new features, you should not upgrade notes on your public beta El Capitan. El Capitan or iOS 9 notes will become completely isolate with old version. Old iOS will not be able to access new notes created from iOS 9, while notes created in pre-iOS 9 will become invisible to new iOS 9 notes.

But the problem is not in here.
Once you upgrade notes to iOS 9 version, all notes created in iOS 9 devices will not be able to be accessed on pre-iOS 9 devices. Nor pre-iOS 9 devices created notes can be accessed on iOS 9 devices.
To be more specific, if you write a new simple note on iOS 9, you will not be able to find it in pre-iOS 9 system. In turn, if you write a new note in pre-iOS system, you will not be able to find that new notes in iOS 9.

The wait for shipping versions of El Capitan and iOS9 is killing me - and the new Notes app is at the top of the list of things I'm waiting for.

I upgraded to El Capitan while my iPhone was still on 8.4 and new notes on either device no longer synced across. The old notes were still there on both. I then went for the ios 9 beta and all is good again.

The old notes are stored with your email provider. The new notes are stored in iCloud.

The app versions are not cross compatible because they don't fetch each other's notes.
