You either misunderstood or were misinformed. Apple Corps was the record label founded by the Beatles. Apple Computer is the computer company founded the Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. Apple Corps and Apple Computer have no more to do with each other as General Motors has to do with General Electric. Apple Computer and Apple Corps have an agreement that Apple Computer will not enter the music business. They entered into that agreement as part of a settlement of an earlier lawsuit which Apple Corps won. Apple Corps recently sued Apple Computer on the basis that the iTunes Music Store violated that agreement. Apple Computer won this time. The iPod, iTunes, and the iTunes Music Store are safe.

Apple was a name of a type of fruit first;)

But seriosulsy, there are many companies out there with "Apple" in their name. I know of one clothing store near me called Apple, and even more bizarrly a Windoze PC computer repair store also called Apple.
