I'd like to first apologize if I'm asking something obvious, repetitive or just plain stupid. I have been reading the forums for over a week trying to figure out if I can get my GSM iPhone to 2.0 so that I can take advantage of the app store. It's difficult to derive an exact answer as we all are operating under different circumstances. That being said, this is my situation:

I have a jailbroken/ unlocked GSM iPhone running 1.1.2 (not sure which bootloader) using Turbosim on the Rogers network in Canada. I'm not 100% sure, but my understanding is that pwnage can now unlock/jailbreak 2.0? So does this mean that I can update my iphone to 2.0 using iTunes, then use pwnage to unlock/jailbreak it? FYI, I'm on a mac.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

yeah the new pwnage tool can jailbreak and unlock 2.0, however i have just jailbroken so i can't provide 1st hand feeback with unlocking. my understanding is, however, that when it asks you if you're a legit iphone user, if you click no, bootneuter starts up automatically when you install the new firmware (via itunes) and it unocks your phone.

someone else can probably give a more...full...response

Your response is as full as is needed, because that's exactly what happens. Once you've restored with your custom firmware, BootNeuter takes over immediately and unlocks your iPhone. Piece of cake (the cake might be a lie, but the ease of unlocking isn't).

Actually I'm going to postpone the upgrade for now. I compared the software I have now compared to the software available on the app store and assuming I can't install the same apps I have now, I'd rather stay for now. They finally have video recording available from the installer. I can't get rid of that now!

Thanks for the replies tho'.
