ok time to put to rest this whole other companies forcing apple to innovate thing

Its funny when people say stuff like "if ms dies who will cause apple to innovate"

or if the pre or this or that or droid wasnt arround how would apple innovate.

APPLE INNOVATES not thoes other companies..

who was apple competition in the phone industry when they created the iphone? NO ONE apple innovated and blew all other phone companies out of the water with their OS and PHONE..

Then 2.0 and 3.0 completely killed any other "app place" they created their appstore and it took the world over ..

Pre, droid , instinct, G1 , Voyager, pretty much were trying to be iphone killers which did not succeed .. these phone were offering more features functionality but guess what . when you have a crappy OS and poorly implemented features the phone doesnt do good..

APPLE does NOT need other companies to innovate.. let me repeat DOES NOT.. apple is ahead of the game and Innovates and when they add functionality they do it right.. make it easy and work great..

Apple is innovating as we speak.. they know to say ahead of the game they need to continually work on new things better things..

you are mistakin if you think apple is looking to these other phones and companies for ideas and ways to make their phone better..

look at the ipod touch , iphone , ipad , apple knows what its doing.. and if you look at thoes products at the time there was no competition .. which means whats APPLE INNOVATES DOESNT COPY...get it through your head.

anyone else agree.. it just annoys me when people think apple is looking at other companies for ideas
 
Not sure what was the inspiration for this rant but I can say with a very
high level of certainty that i've NEVER heard anyone say "if MS dies who will cause apple to innovate". That's not just because it's poor grammar either- it's not something people worry about.

Every industry needs competition. Sure, apple appears to be as self motivated as any company, in any industry, but that doesn't mean a nice push every now again isn't beneficial to everyone. The people that benefit the most from this are the consumers. I'm all for anyone, and everyone, stepping up and challenging companies to become better at what they do any chance we can get it.
 
ive never heard of apple copying companies ideas. they copy apples ideas. apple doesnt care what other companies make. they make what other companies dont make, because thats what they want. apple is not about competition, but about delivering what they've personally wanted.
 
What caused a disturbance in the fanboy collective today?

Every company creates and every company copies. Apple doesnt invent everything in the computer world, nor does anyone else. Apple copies, MS copies, RIM copies...
 
apples competition in the phone market was THE WHOLE of the established phone market, key is they produced something different and it because it was well hyped it became a very good success, things like the droid and the pre were only hyped on tech news sites as an iphone killer because it gets people to read the story (and didn't make it into major news) and they both provide an alternative

and apple does look at other companies for ideas for a niche and guess what SO DOES EVERY OTHER COMPANY ON THE PLANET LOOK AT THEIR COMPETITORS

TBH reading a post like yours TeamDNA makes me sick at your blindness to follow one company you likely know nothing about anything and will therefore shout about nothing and always think your right, please go somewhere with no internet

Actually there was quite a bit of competition. Creative (i think) had a player with more storage at a lower price, but their market was horrible (and still is). Marketing is where Apple shines. Their ads made everyone want an mp3 player, not just the tech enthusiasts and wealthy.
 
yeah but if you went upto someone in the street back then and asked what an mp3 was most people wouldnt know, then apple changed that, but everyone knew what a mobile phone was before the iphone

What point are you trying to get across? That other companies don't force Apple to innovate or that Apple doesn't copy other companies. Your title indicates one, but your post talks about another.

You're right in that Apple doesn't copy many others. But you're wrong in that others do force Apple to innovate. Steve Jobs even said so himself. The 3GS wasn't a great upgrade and many other companies including Google caught up in the smartphone/Mobile OS industry. Now Jobs is claiming the iPhone 4 will be an "A+" upgrade.

Make sure you stay on topic next time.
 
You're right; in the third version of the iPhone OS they added this amazing new technology called "copy and paste." I can't believe nobody had thought of such an amazing new feature before, it makes using the phone so much easier.

There are rumours circulating that they're actually playing with multitasking, you know, running MORE THAN ONE APP AT THE SAME TIME. Can you believe it? The iPhone is way ahead of its time.
