well ive been trying to pwn my iphone 1.1.4 to 2.0.1 for 2 days already and i keep getting the same error ( Error has occured on iphone 6 or somthing). I have done the process 5 TIMES!!!! already and keep getting this error. I do everything it says im supose to do. Open Winpwn then select the stuff i want, i select everything except custom image because i want to keep my original image. my itunes gets pwn then when i start to restore in dfu mode everything goes go until it says setting up iphone software. Then it goes into restore mode and the error happens everytime.

Im using a unlock 1.1.4 iphone 2g from ziphone but always goes wrong. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME.

I would get the complete error message first.
 
If I'm not mistaken, Error 6 means incorrect firmware.

Make sure you are using firmware for your phone.
2G firmware will begin with iPhone1,1
3G firmware will begin with iPhone1,2
iPod Touch firmware will begin with 1,1 (? not really sure about this one though)

So yeah, make sure you built your ipsw with the correct version for your phone.
 
yep it is the correct version (iPhone1,1_2.0.1_5B108_Restore). Okay i have now done it for the 6th time and it still dont work!
 
everytime it hits preparing iphone software for restore it goes on and on until finally the thing pops up (The Iphone `iphone` could not be restored. An unknown error occured (6) ).
 
Irs the result of the deselecting custom logo. I've already made them aware. Just use Simple Mode until Pwnage 2.0.3 ;)
 
i had the same problem, and kept getting error 6. I had it in recovery mode and not in DFU.
 
I'm positive I'm in dfu mode. The screen goes all black and it tells me that my iphone needs to be restored. I'm using winpwn by the way

That's restore mode...

Make sure you're in DFU mode by holding the button down 10 seconds and then release it. I had same problems before...

No, DFU is not the same as restore mode.

The way I put my phone into DFU mode is as follow:
  1. Plug in the phone
  2. Shut it off
  3. Press and hold both the home and sleep buttons for exactly 10 seconds
  4. Let go of the sleep button and continue to press the home button
  5. Then you should be in DFU mode

You listed the correct steps, but DFU mode IS when your screen is all black. If you see anything on your iPhone's screen, then you are NOT in DFU mode.
 
okay ive definately tried everything. Ive redownload itunes to winpwn. Iono what the heck is going on. Maybe its ziphone that ive used to unlock my 1.1.4 but ive heard people being able to still pwn so i dont know. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME. Been doing this for about a 1 week already

i must have missed something...


ANYWAY

the bottom line is that winPWN & winTunes are a bit shakey - hop on a mac if you can

as for getting it working on your PC, use the main USB ports at the back of the computer, check all your connections, restart your computer, make sure you have the latest winTunes & the latest winPWN, make sure you are pwning the right fimware (1,1 for 1st gen - 1,2 for 3G), make sure it is pwned properly, make sure it's in DFU mode, make sure you restore to the same firmware you just pwnd... if still nothing go buy a nokia :)
 
if i restore it to 2.01 how am i gonna acess it through itunes since im using tmobile. Im on 1.1.4 because i could access it with itunes.
 
If you're on T-Mobile, you don't want to upgrade yet. I don't think unlocking is available yet, only jailbreaking.
 
i have the first gen so ive heard that it should be able to unlock unlike the 3g you can unlock yet.
 
okay i just tried it again and i dont know why its still not working. Here is what i do

1. Open Winpwn
2. Open browse and click on the iphone 2.01 file
3. Create the file and click everything down to partition bing 512.
4. Click Ipwner and says itunes been pwn (Keep in mind itunes not on right now)
5. Turn iphone into dfu mode
6. Itunes pops up and i click restore and select the custom firmware.
7. Bam, when it gets to preparing iphone software for restore it takes like 10 mins then the error 6 pops up.


After that i gotta restore back to 1.1.4 and then i gotta use ziphone to unlock and activate it. urghhhhhhhh!!!!! 1 week already ive been trying to do this.
