Just hooked up my Apple TV; thing is pretty awesome. Few questions for those of you who have had a few to play with it:

EDIT: after 1st movie synced...

This is my biggest concern now. I have my ATV set for everything to "Sync selected content" because I don't have enough space on my Mac's HD to fit all my movies and video content on it at once so what I'm doing is Syncing it to ATV to store it for future watches and then deleting it off of my Mac's HD. Well I synced the 1st movie well and fine (took a bit) looked really good and played great so I stopped it and took it off of my HD on my Mac and started to sync the next movie. Well now the 1st movie is gone. Great. I'm selecting what to sync, why is it still mirroring my iTunes library? This should work like Manually updating an iPod where I don't need to have everything in my iTunes for it to be on my iPod HD. Some help ASAP would be great.

1. Syncing is PAINFULLY slow; I know this has to do with my network but my network is usually pretty darn reliable as far as speeds go. I have a G network. I'm transferring a 1.05gb movie and it's literally taking about a half hour to get roughy ONE THIRD the way through. Any thoughts or stories on this?

2. If syncing will in fact take this long can I (a.)walk away from it and let it sync even if my computer goes to sleep and/or (b.)switch inputs to actually watch TV and ATV will continue to sync in the background.

3. I have my ATV hooked up via HDMI and the picture thus far looks pretty awesome but I can hear a pretty prevelant static through the speakers anyone else have this as well?

4. ATV defaulted me to 720p however my highest resolution can be 1080i so I changed it to 1080i; any reason it defaulted to 720p and if so shuould I keep it there?

5. Pretty sure I know the answer to this but does it just stay on all the time? I assume that's okay; just like my cable box does...

6. As I rotate the menus and it slips in and out of screensaver (etc.) if I'm looking at the TV from a side angle I can see a ghost of the previous action or two; I don't think it's burning into the screen (I hope not at least!) because it hasn't stuck on one action but it does concern me a bit. Once again anyone have this; is it something to be concerned about?

Thank you all. Hopefully this device will become the media hub for my bedroom if I can workout or get used some of it's quirks. The thing has a ton of potential.

Synching should not take that long. At least my 40GB only took a few minutes. Also, you can turn the ATV off by holding the play key down for 3 or 4 seconds. Any key will turn it back on.

After having it for a few days I've figured most of this stuff out. Except for the low static noise through HDMI...odd; but not too big of a deal really. I've been going from my macbook directly into ATV with ethernet and the transfer rates have been a charm :)

Good to hear. What's with the static noise? Do you hear it on all screens, such as menu titles, or just when streaming?

The hiss is during the menus. I suppose it's during playback as well but the sound of the video cancels it out. I never thought it might be my cable...as long as it's not my HDMI port I'll be happy. I'll have to borrow another cable and check it. Thanks!
