Hello Community,

I have the 12 Inch Powerbook G4 from many years ago. The hard drive failed years ago, but I have so many photos of my now 16 year old daughter saved. At that time I was not backing up data unfortunately. Do you all know of any way to recover the photos? Any company that specializes in data recovery. Last time I checked it does still power on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am in Pennsylvania but willing to travel.

First, you will have to remove the HDD. Second, you will have to find a data recovery service. The costs will be determined by the mechanical state of the HDD. If it is not spinning.. could be the PCB board, could be the read/write head, the motor, etc... find a data recovery service who can perform these intricate and sensitive repairs, preferably a service which uses a clean room to do the work. They will repair the drive just enough to allow them to capture the data off the drive and copy it to another storage device. The original drive will most likely be scuttled during the process. These services can cost thousands of dollars... but photos of your daughter are priceless, are they not?
