I hope there isn't already a thread on this. I'm hoping some one can help me out with my issue.
A while ago I changed my Apple ID email from a gmail one to an iCloud one. Not sure what I did wrong but now on my iPhone 6s I have a message to sign into my Apple ID with the old email address. I'm already signed in with my iCloud one and everything seems to be ok. It's just the nuisance factor of having a red notification on my System preferences icon and the occasional message. This only happens on my iPhone - not on my iPad or MBP. When I enter my Apple ID for my iCloud email (which has been changed) into the box for the gmail linked ID I'm told that the account is locked.

I may not have explained that well but hopefully some one here can assist.

Many thanks for any advice.

Try completely signing out of iCloud on phone, then back it. It's weird like that.
I tried that but no change. A factory reset might do it but I don't know if I want to do that ...

Thanks for your reply. All suggestions gratefully accepted.
