Old iMac Screen Repair

i found my old (2010 I think) iMac Core Duo in the attic. I would love to set it up for my boys but it has really bad vertical lines. Can that be repaired? It also doesn't want to take the software update even though it seems to be functioning well.

Sounds like the graphics card is having problems. Do a search of the forum for replacement cards.
