Hey guys. i just need some help with one thing. I was planning to give my old iPhone to my friend once i get the new 3G. So i got the 3G and now the old one doesn't work as expected, but i was planning of just putting my friends sim ( he is in ATT ) in and then using it as mostly a phone, without paying that $20 a month. But when i put his sim in it wont work. so I'm guessing they disconnected my phone not just the sim. My old iPhone is jailbroken so i'm wondering is there an app that can do that or a work around that you guys can help me with?

Thank You

sounds like it is jailbroken but not unlocked. You need to unlock it to use anything other than an iPhone sim.

what is a real easy way to unlock it or a fool proof way to do so. is there a program on the installer that could do that?

You need to replace the old iPhone SIM card, with that of the phone# you want to use. Needs to be a 3G SIM.

Then plug it into iTunes to activate it. Worked for me.

alright well i used ZiPhone to unlock the phone. and when i put my friends sim in everything works. but i have a question; since he doesn't have an data plan and if he doesn't use the safari or anything data related there should be no reason to get charged for data right?
