Old iPod dock with touch 2g???

I'm in the US for a little while and I'm considering buying a universal dock for my new touch 2g. BUT I have an old 3g ipod dock (4 button ipod) back in Thailand. Anybody know if this old dock will work with my new touch? The apple "geniuses" had no idea and I haven't been able to find a definitive answer online. Thanks for any help.

It depends what you want to use it for - if it's just for charging / syncing then i should work fine - I've got my touch 2nd gen working in an older universal dock (with round IR window) model number A1153 except video out doesn't work on it.
I've also got it working in a non-universal dock (no model number, but it's a 2003 vintage and think it came with my 20GB iPod which was a 4 button one, so it could be the same as yours) which only has audio out.

It also charges and syncs in my Belkin combined dock / USB hub

Basically, it has charged and synced in every USB dock I've ever tried it in

Thanks so much for your quick response. I mostly want to use it for docking near my stereo speakers for playback. I think I'll give the old dock a try when I get back to Thailand. If it doesn't work I'll buy the new dock in Thailand and pay the extra "Thai tax".

Will the Line Out work on my older dock as well?
