I'm still hanging on to Mojave so I can use iTunes...perhaps the principal reason is that I enjoy combining music from iTunes and from music-based podcasts in a single PLAYLIST. In iTunes, it's easy to drag selected podcasts into these Playlists. These playlists are now easily transferred to iPhone/iPods, etc. I understand migration from old iTunes to Apple Music will maintain these playlists but new ones can't be created as before because Podcasts and Music are separate apps. If I'm wrong, how can move podcasts to music playlists...Thanks.

Hopefully someone will chime in to say that I'm wrong, but I don't believe that the current apple Podcast app will even allow you to export or drag a file to the desktop.

So that leaves you either downloading the mp3 from the podcasts website or perhaps there's a third party podcast app on the Mac that will allow you to export files. A very roundabout way is that I know the Overcast app on iOS allows you to export files, but then you have to go to your Mac to import the file into Music.

Once in Music of course, it's just another song and can be added to playlists like any other.

It seems like this would be something that you could put together a Siri shortcut to do, but a) I'm no expert in that so don't know if it's possible, and b) I hate it when people recommend that we should make shortcuts to amend for Apple's intransigence on usable interface design.

I wouldn't be so sure those playlists will be maintained since the apps are now completely separate. However you can still use iTunes in newer versions with some tweaking: https://github.com/cormiertyshawn895/Retroactive
Thanks very much for your reply and the helpful link...apple support says the 'playlists' will be migrated but doesn't say what will be in them, hence my fears. I'll check Retroactive out...Best wishes

Thanks very much for your helpful reply. I'll look into Overcast...where there's will there's an app, it seems...and, you are not the only one who isn't an expert. Best wishes.
