Hi all,
I want to encrypt everything on my Synology-NAS. So I was experimenting and because when using the built-in NAS encryption, the performance goes really down, I was thinking to move all the "work" to my Mac Mini (2009).
Since creating encryption folders (TrueCrypt) etc isn't a good solution because they aren't "easy" expandable, I tried using iSCSI and File Vault 2. Unfortunately the performance is nearly the same as using the build-in mechanism. I was really counting with speed improvements!
The question: Is it because of the older mac mini processor (2,26) and therefore missing AES functions? Was my thinking completely wrong?
btw. I already ordered a new mac mini i7 2,6. Can I expected a better performance with that one?
