All,

In case you haven't seen it, ComputerWorld has an article along with an image gallery of those long gone operating systems.

Of particular note, a Mac OS 1.1 is shown and even GEOS from the C-64.

A trip down memory lane....

That brings back memories, although I'm still not sure what ran on my dad's old SGI machines in the mid-90s ...

I had just joined IBM and they were giving all employees a free copy of OS/2 Warp.

I remember when IBM came out with the Aptiva line of PC's, and you chose which system you wanted to install on boot - Windows 95 or OS/2 Warp.

That's when MS told IBM that they can no longer take advantage of High Volume PC Seller Windows Pricing...

BeOS was fun too...

NextStep was the coolest, but that's just now OS X... :D

Thanks for the link.

When I heard of OS/2 or BeOS, I wanted to try them, but they couldn't be bought where I lived (and I was in my teens, so traveling to somewhere else wasn't that easy).
At least there was a Windows program, that gave me a Mac OS Menu Bar.

Btw, does this Computerworld page also give you beachballs on recent hardware?

Texas, unfortunately.
Only OS's on there I'm old enough to remember is DOS and Windows 95. I still use 95 actually, it's very quick and fairly stable for basic bitmap graphics work.

I ran GEOS on my Commodore 128 as my first computer. Not a bad operating system at all. One feature I really liked was the "Dual Top" setup.
