I have an old Dell mini desktop which came with Win 8.

I would like to use a GTX 1050 card which takes a 6 pin for power.

The main board is 24pin and 4pin for CPU.

When looking at power supplies I see 4+4 or something like that. Is that a standard for newer main boards?

I’m lost king at a used PSU like this:

The computer is a i3 or i5 g2020 based or something like that.

You don't say which dell PC you have, but most of the smaller desktops they sell use a non-standard size power supply, so unfortunately it's not a simple case of fitting a new PSU

if you look at the specs page on the link you posted, there's a line for PCIe power supply - which is what your graphics card takes, which says it has a 6+2 connector, so you just have to connect the 6 pin connector to your GTX 1050

Hope that helps

My concern was for the CPU connection. The computer now takes a 4 pin connector. The larger PSU has 8 pin, and 4+4.

The main board is already installed in a larger small tower case.

Look at the photo of the cables. I'v also attached it here. The CPU cable is in the upper left. It's an 8-pin block that attaches to the power supply and it comes out as two 4-pin connectors, hence the 4+4 moniker.

So, would I be able to split the 4+4 and only use one connector? Is the polarity wiring the same as in older devices using a single 4 pin connector?

You can definitely only use one. It is already two 4 pin connectors. The pinout is part of the ATX spec.

You will need a 24 pin to 8 pin adapter. They sell them on Amazon and eBay for about $7 to $13.
