I love getting a new phone every 2-3 years but I end up being much more careful with it. Kind of like the difference between a new car and one that is a few years old. Granted I still take care of both. The the older phone (and car) probably has a few dings and scratches so I don't have to pay as much attention to it. Fingerprints aren't a big deal. And if the phone falls off the table, oh well... Just like parking a used car in with all the others instead of away from cars at the top of the parking lot.

With that said, I'm happy to have my iPhone 12 Pro :)

I continue to upgrade every year and have not used cases for quite a while now. With the numerous options available for trade-ins it’s been quite a few years since I’ve sold a phone on my own so I really see no point in babying the device or covering up with a case since Apple or my carrier will take it and give me the same amount no matter the condition (excluding shattered glass, obviously).

The stainless steel on these pro phones is pretty damn durable. I dropped my 11 Pro a few times over the year and just last week I was using the sunlight to closely examine the phone and was only able to find some minor scratching on one corner.

I get why people use cases but I’ve noticed I’m much less likely to drop my phones if they’re not wrapped up because I’m more conscious of making sure it’s safe.
