Hi guys,

I have two oldish phones that are still very useable imo: an LG G5 with 128gb MicroSD card and an iPhone SE 32GB.

I love both for very different reasons.

G5:
- Love the camera. The wide angle lens is something which I love LG for.
- Battery life sucks and I mean it really does. Always need to charge. But there's quick charge.
- got a 128gb microSD card so it's like unlimited photos and videos.
- pretty decent screen
- Easy to repair if anything broken

Iphone se:
- only 32gb
- iOS is clean and simple and easy to use.
- decent camera
- great size. I like the portablility.
- se Resale Value is higher lol
- battery life is amazing
- it's snappy!

Any opinions? Which would you keep?

Resale is relative when we are talking about $30-50 difference.

Keep the G5. It's a more unique phone with user replaceable battery and fun modular accessories that will get cheaper on ebay with time.

I would keep the SE since it will last longer. You can get up to an outstanding 5-6 years of software support on it too.

THis + use it as a remote controller + hifi audio + wide angle camera. + bigger screen.

Keep the SE, I think you'll get a little more mileage out of it especially with iOS 12 on the horizon. The G5 is kinda neat but I'm pretty sure there's no chance of updates and I'd be worried about the chance of a bootloop.

no chance of updates
I don't think updates are a big deal once a phone is a few years old as new features sometimes slow the phone down or older devices don't get them. Furthermore basic apps like Instagram, Gmail, Facebook, Chrome etc will still work without issues.

I'm currently running Android P which had nice to haves like gestures but I wouldn't say someone who's stuck with Oreo is massively missing out.

The G5 is abandoned, even by LG.
Keep the SE as it will be supported even until iOS15.

I'd say keep the G5.

I find it hilarious people talk about updates at this point, lol, with the G5 being an Android I'd say give it a new Battery and then go to XDA Developers and have some fun with it.

You could have the next 2,3,4 Android updates with the G5 after Rooting it. Use it as a way to learnore about Android or just as a project phone to test things with. :)

I would keep the SE solely for the battery.

Phones with poor battery life annoy the hell out of me and Apple are consistently good.
