I have been reading here about Time Machine. I appreciate it since I was going to rely on it to transfer my iMac to an newer one. I will look into Super Duper and Carbon Copy Cloner moving forward.

Still, as I prepare for my new(er) machine, I called for "the Gathering" and old hard drives came in droves. On one I found a Time-Machine backup from four years ago. I am curious to see what version of history it contains. I have had a few crashes in these years.

Is there any way to look into this backup? Especially since I will erase my old iMac and be able to experiment with that.

thanks

Are the drives mountable? If they mount and you option click on the Time Machine icon on the menu bar can you browse the disk?

Hold down the option key then click Browse Other Backup Disks... and that should let you look over the old TM backup.
