By my estimates, 2001. If you ever look at @arn's join date that gives a rough estimate.
August 2011 for me…not that old.

April 2001. Some early join dates might precede that date since we migrated some users over from the original commenting system.
Looks like @zwida might be the earliest person that is still active with a join date of Jan 5, 2001 (!). They must have been imported from our previous comment system.

July 2006. I joined because my college graduation gift was going to be a Powerbook or whatever they were called back then, and I wanted to make sure I got one after they were updated and not before.
