I need to rercover the files on my now dead A1342 white macbook. Once I remove the HD what cable do i need to plug into my mac mini to transfer files?

Thanks

The hard drive could be sata or IDE. Find out and then you can buy a USB enclosure to turn the drive into an external.

A SATA to USB cable should be all you need (ensure it also provides power). There are so many that I can't point you to any specific one.

White iBook never used an internal IDE hard drive, but will be SATA.
Even the optical drive is SATA on an A1342 model (2009 or 2010 MacBooks)

So, any USB enclosure for an SATA drive, or even a simple USB-SATA cable would be fine for occasional use.

(Not sure what caused me to mis-write this one. Of course, I meant "White MacBook", not iBook. Thanks to ApolloBoy for pointing that out!

I'm not familiar with the White Macbooks so I made reference to both types of connectors to ensure the OP get's the right enclosure.

I would not want the OP to be sold an IDE enclosure in error.

You could try listing it in the marketplace if you have a high enough post count. Those white MacBooks really aren't worth anything anymore, though. Shipping would be more than you'd get for it. You might be better off just offering it for shipping.
