I have an older Mac (specs attached). I upgraded the memory and the hard drive to SSD. I still see considerable lag in performance often and especially when I try to use Citrix Workspace for work.

Any recommendations on how to get better performance?
I installed Onyx and will be running its tests shortly.

It's an 11-year old iMac with a Core 2 Duo. Installing RAM and replacing the hard drive with an SSD does not change the fact that you CPU and GPU are dead slow compared to their modern equivalents. It doesn't surprise me that you are seeing considerable lag, and quite frankly I don't think there's much you can do about it.

I have the same spec machine but a 27" and have done the same (8 GB RAM and SSD). I only use it for web browsing and light office work but it runs fine. I am holding out for the new iMac.

Since I am not using it primarily for graphic intensive work, I expected better performance. Suerprisingly Lightroom works much faster and without issues compared to my newer Latitude 7000 series.
